Meat Ahoy!

Hi everyone, welcome back to Freddie’s Kitchen. We are 3 kids, and a dog, trying to teach other kids how easy it is to cook. Today we wanted to share with you a brilliant recipe for all you little pirates out there, it’s Meat Ahoy!

You will need: (for a family of 5)

(For the meatballs)

500g mince beef

Pinch of salt

Pinch of pepper

Handful of parsley

(For the sauce)

1 x 500g chopped tomatoes or you can use passata if you don’t like the chunks in your sauce

A large spoonful of tomato purée

A handful of basil

(For the sea)

Some chopped lettuce

(For the boats)

Mini stand ‘n’ stuff soft tortillas

Let’s cook!

Make the meatballs:

Put mince into a bowl

Add your salt, pepper and parsley

Mix together with your little fingers

Mould the mix into small golf ball sized meatballs

Place on a baking tray (remember to wash your hands when all your meatballs are made) and cook at 180º for 10 – 15 minutes

Make the sauce:

Pour the chopped tomatoes or passata into a pan

Add the tomato purée

Add the basil

Give it a good stir

Cook on the hob on a medium heat for about 5minutes or it starts to bubble

Stir again

For the boats:

Place boats (tortillas stands) on a microwavable plate

Put in the microwave for 30 seconds on full power

All done! It’s time to build your boats:

Place your chopped lettuce on a plate

Put your boats on top

Put 2 – 3 meatballs into each boat

Add your sauce
